Ruth’s Chris, dinner for two

Our anniversary is this week. Unfortunately, it falls in the middle of the week. So, we decided to celebrate this past Saturday by enjoying a nice dinner in Clayton, MO’s Ruth’s Chris Steak House. My husband loves steak (I haven’t met many men that don’t) and had been looking forward to that day for a couple of weeks. We planned on hitting some outlet malls on the way there and finish off the day with a nice dinner.

Our day started off with some shopping. We hardly ever shop just for ourselves and had a blast. We got some great deals at The Gap, Van Huesen, Levi’s, Nike, The Kitchen Collection, and the bookstore. I think we spent more money at the kitchen store. After a few hours of shopping, it was time to head into the city (somewhat).

We arrived at Ruth’s Chris about 5 minutes early for our dinner reservation. The service was excellent and the folks were friendly. Everyone wished us a happy anniversary and treated us like royalty. Of course, the food wasn’t bad either. I had a petite filet cooked medium topped with blackend shrimp. My husband enjoyed a nice filet. We shared an order of potatoes au gratin, I had asparagus with hollandaise sauce and washed it down with a nice glass of bourdeaux. It was all excellent. For dessert, my husband was dying for some creme brulee and I had the most exquisite piece of chocolate mousse cheesecake.

The best part of the whole night was that we only paid $52.00 for the entire meal, including tip (my dessert was on the house). That’s right. My husband had ordered a $100 gift card just for this night through the rewards program at work. Since he’s the manager of his department, he has a work credit card that he uses to make purchases as needed. He had more than enough points for our gift card.

How’s it going? Shocked by credit card fees? Give me a break!
