The Motley Fool listed 20 action items that can change your life in 2007. So, this new year make a plan to implement these steps, at least some of them, into your resolution list or goals for the coming year. Here’s the breakdown of these 20 action items.

1. Reveiw your bank statement on a monthly basis, as soon as it arrives in the mail. Things to look for: extra charges or fees, and charges for services you may not have cancelled but intended to.

2. Put an end to the pre-approved credit card offers by calling 1-888-5-OPTOUT (888-567-8688) and reduce the junk mail.

3. When you arrive home from work, place your keys in the same spot each time.

4. Make identity thieves work harder, shred your old documents.

5. Schedule a routine virus scan on your computer.

6. Stop the telemarketing calls by registering with the do not call list.

7. Use automatic bill pay for your mortgage. It’s fast and easy and removes the late fees that could damage your credit score.

8. Get a free copy of your credit report. It’s free every 12-month period.

9. Mom told you to floss your teeth. Not only will it improve your health, but you can save money on medical bills.

11. Try the 30-day trail of Motley Fool’s GreenLight or send the offer to a friend. GreenLight is financial tool developed by Fool.

12. Put fresh batteries in your smoke detector.

13. Sign up for online access to your accounts, i.e. checking, savings, IRA’s, 401(k)’s, etc.

15. If you are signed up for flexible spending at work, submit your reimbursement forms. Don’t forget to claim it.

16. Increase your 401(k) conrtibutions.

17. If you have late fees on your credit card account, give them a call and have them removed.

18. Search online for the best prices on upcoming purchases.
