A week until Christmas

Christmas is almost here! There are crowds of people in the stores with last-minute gift buying. We were pretty much done 2 weeks ago, but have to get some small things for our daughter. No biggie though. Our largest obstacle of course will be the crowds and mayhem that that entails.

Still, our Christmas will be somewhat calm and relaxing and I’m looking forward to it. After a hectic month at work and dealing with some crazy folks in stores, Christmas morning spent opening presents and sipping hot cocoa just sounds divine. Why is it going to be so calm? We’re actually having Christmas with the in-laws on Wednesday. It was the only day we could all get together. So, we will be in-law free this weekend and Monday.

I think the last Christmas we spent like this was the year we got married back in 1998. It’ll be nice. We’re gonna get up, do the presents thing, drink some cocoa (I’ll probably drink coffee) and head over to a neighbors house for some games and movies. They have a tradition that I just think is wonderful for this time of year. They call it “do nothing.” They invite friends and neighbors over to their house, come as you wish (mostly pajamas) and play games, watch movies, eat popcorn, candy and just hang out. Our 3-year old loves to play with their 3-year old so it’ll be good family fun.

Whatever you do this Christmas, enjoy the time with your family and relax. It’s not a day that should be stressful or hectic, so take it easy. From our family to yours, have a happy Christmas!
